Lions and Tigers and Bears….and Senomyx – Oh My!
Would you like to spend the night with lions and tigers and bears? By visiting the 93 acre ranch and supporting the Lions Tigers & Bears Big Cat Sanctuary and Rescue in the East County of San Diego, CA, you can help keep this sanctuary up and running. Senomyx employees sponsor Lions Tigers & Bears, which is a wonderful place to visit. You can even do overnight visits and hang out with some of the biggest cats you will ever encounter. In addition to being home to 17 species, there is a rich history to explore. The sanctuary is located on what once was a stage coach stop and you can see the historical adobe structure that still exists today.
This “Animal Sanctuary” rescues and provides shelter and care for animals that have been abused, injured, abandoned, confiscated or are otherwise in need of a lifetime home. They are a “no kill, no breed” facility that does not buy, breed, trade, or sell animals. The quality of care and protection is priority for the organization, and their goal is to have all zoos and sanctuaries establish the same high standards for the best interest of the animals.
The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS) has announced that Lions Tigers & Bears has achieved GFAS accreditation. The accreditation means Lions Tigers & Bears fits the comprehensive and rigorous definition of a true sanctuary, providing humane and responsible care for the animals by meeting the demanding and peer-reviewed standards for operations, administration, and veterinary care established by GFAS, which is the only globally recognized organization providing standards for identifying legitimate animal sanctuaries.
Lions Tigers & Bears does need help to run this facility because, as you can imagine, their inhabitants eat a lot! In addition, they are trying to build a new habitat called Conservation & Education Station. This new habitat is designed to help preserve a portion of Southern California’s ecological heritage while educating residents about the natural role these cats play in San Diego’s wild lands.
