Senomyx Puts Their Health to the Test at the 2nd Annual Biometric Screening
It is important to Senomyx to keep employees healthy and in-tune with their bodies, especially during the holiday season. Senomyx hosted the 2nd Annual Biometric Screening, offering tests to optimize employee health and wellness. At this year’s screening we had a 70% participation level from our employees! Registered nurses ran confidential tests for employees to see levels of body fat, cholesterol, blood pressure, and more. The goal of this screening was solely for employee wellness. We want to give people the knowledge they need to avoid harmful diseases through early detection and prevention.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) estimates that about 2 out of 3 Americans are overweight or obese. Obesity increases the risk of many types of cancer. It also increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other health outcomes, such as dying at an early age. While it is not clear exactly how excess body fat, consuming too many calories, and lack of physical activity raise cancer risk , it appears that they are linked to an increased risk of many types of cancer and they pose a serious and growing health problem.
With heart disease, cancer, and other preventable diseases being prevalent in America right now, it is smart to do these tests frequently to catch issues while they are still treatable. The screening also generates your “real age”, which is calculated using many lifestyle factors as well as your test numbers. It’s a good feeling when your “real age” is younger than your chronological age!
We encourage employees to stay active, limit stress, and schedule regular check-ups with their physician.
