Senomyx Makes Strides Against Breast Cancer!
During the month of October, a group of Senomyx employees and their children participated in a 5K to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. During this month, there is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps necessary to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.
The purpose of participating in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Walk is as unique and special as the stories that motivate the walkers. They may be walking in honor or memory of a loved one, or maybe the walkers are facing the disease themselves. By joining the family of volunteers, they are helping the American Cancer Society (ACS) continue to assist people facing breast cancer today while working to end the disease tomorrow. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events are a celebration of survivorship – an occasion to express hope and shared determination to make this breast cancer’s last century.
The San Diego community has raised over $800,000 for the American Cancer Society’s fight against breast cancer and donations are still coming in! Donations are still being accepted and the ACS is hoping to far surpass their goal of $850,000! The website will be open until December 31st, 2013. A record 30,000 participants came out to show their support. San Diego really knows how to shine!
Thank you to the Senomyx participants, as well as the other Making Strides walkers, sponsors, team leaders, donors and volunteers! Please visit the Senomyx Cares Blog to see what other great contributions our employees make.
